Our Mission
We represent the City Heights community, which is known for its wide variety of different ethnicities and cultures. One of our two projects for City Heights involves a mural in Fair @44 to enhance cultural awareness. We plan to work with local vendors from Fair@44. City Heights is a mainly low income area so due to that, it is in need of an economic boost. Fair@44 is organized by the C.D.C (the Community Development Corporation), and we are being guided by our consultant Maritza Maksimow who works at this corporation. The C.D.C’s goal is to improve the quality of life in City Heights, and their vision as said on their website is to “create effective collaborations to serve the needs of the community”. This fair will improve the local economy by giving local and non local vendors exposure. Since the fair will be open to the public there will be locals purchasing goods from these vendors. Our job at Fair@44 is to gather data from the people that go there improving the fair by adding more activities, and to get more vendors involved in Fair@44.
Pitch
We are sophomores from High Tech High Chula Vista, and we are doing a project called Faces of Change. In this project, we go into six different communities within San Diego county, and design a project based on the communities' specific needs. Our group is partnering with Maritza Maksimow from the Community Development Corporation in City Heights to create a market place to create jobs and bring the sub-communities together.
