RevisionsToday we received our critiques for our project proposal. We were told to make clearer connections between the student painting tiles and the mural painting to the fair, and to try and figure out if we could paint the mural at the fair. We were told to collect data from people who don't already attend Fair@44 so we can draw people in. We also need to narrow down our mission to just the essentials. This includes the mission statement, measurable goals, and creating clearer goals. The teachers also wanted to find a way to be active members in the fair, and personalize the work we are doing so we're not just completing the work Maritza needs us to do. Fair IdeasThe first critique we tackled today was personalizing our work. We thought of making a photo booth like our school's ASB did, and bringing it to the fair would be a fun way to get families and friends involved. We also thought of creating a Snapchat geo filter to draw in a younger crowd. We also asked Maritza about creating and maintaining a website for Fair@44 which would include pages with descriptions of the vendors and updates for upcoming events.

10/28/2016 0 Comments Project ProposalToday we are presenting our project to a panel of six teachers and our class. We have been getting it ready all week, and we think we are ready. We made our mission statement even longer, and came up with ways we could measure the data of how we impact the fair. We have also created a schedule for ourselves to display what days and times will be work time and when we will have interviews, or field trips.
10/21/2016 0 Comments On Campus SummitLast night we hosted our on campus summit! We received so much amazing feedback from the members of Action Drone and students who did this project last year. We also learned about what went well and what didn't go so well in last year's projects. We learned involving the children and elderly tends to be really impactful, but not involving the community at all could lead to protests. We were told to involve more technology in the implementation of our project. Since so many groups are doing things with or around farmers markets, the men from Action Drone thought that if we included technology to bring in a younger crowd as well, it would make us stand out from the other groups.
Our presentation also went very well. We were the only group to incorporate video as well as talking into our presentation to hook the audience in. 10/12/2016 0 Comments Post in Person Check in with MaritzaToday we went to the second week of Fair@44 to check in with Maritza, and it was amazing! We told her about the people we connected with who would possibly like to help with the market, and updated her on the status of who has emailed us back and who has not. Her co-worker Tamira Ramirez gave us the idea of having a board with the prompt "Where are you from?" and other questions to put at the entrance of the market so we can get qualitative and quantitative data from the vendors who attend the market. She also thought it would be really cool if we wrote vignettes about the people's story's to post them on the C.D.C.'s Facebook.
10/9/2016 0 Comments Next Field Trip Our next field trip will be this upcoming Wednesday, October 12, 2016. We will be meeting Ms. Maritza at Fair@44 to discuss the people we have contacted, to interview her further, and to discuss where else this project will be going.
What are other organizations in the community that we can work with? Where are good places to go to interview people? Who would be good people to partner with? Who would be a good person or people to interview about growing up and living in this community?
